The shared core of Type 7

The following explanation is shared by all three instinctual subtypes of Type 7, drawn from our theory guide. The energy and function mappings are this site’s interpretive model.

Type 7: consumption that will not stop

  • Head · displacement (head → gut)
  • Passion: gluttony
  • ≈ Se (primary) / Ne

Type 7 belongs to the head center but avoids dwelling on serious questions, where deep reflection may encounter emptiness and pain. Energy sinks toward the gut, becoming a pursuit of pleasure, novelty and practical benefits. Gluttony names this endless consumption of opportunities, stimulation, plans and experiences, one after another, to avoid stopping.

Seven's perceiving function becomes clearer at subtype level. Self-preservation and social Sevens are grounded in reality: the former excels at benefits and enjoyment; the latter enjoys practical service and participation. Both strongly resemble extraverted sensation (Se). One-to-one Seven dreams of romance and unknown adventures, resembling extraverted intuition (Ne). With the same Ne, however, Eight breaks orders while Seven wanders and delights itself.

Seven is often mistakenly seen as naive or unintelligent. It can have exceptional improvisational ability and survival instinct while avoiding institutionally approved routes. Naruto Uzumaki in Naruto and Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game illustrate intelligence outside that framework. Here Seven resembles Five: both refuse to let external authority define their intelligence.

Sketch

Self-preservation Seven is the most practical Seven: quick-minded, well connected and informed, sensing benefits everywhere. Friendly, talkative and pleasant, they make conversation enjoyable, then often turn it toward something mutually advantageous.

Keyword: Family

Ichazo called this the castle's defender. Naranjo used family, but not in its cozy sense: an insiders' arrangement in which I help you and expect your help too. The alliance has a factional quality, speaking of loyalty above the table while serving individual interests beneath it, though participants often deny this.

Passion × instinct

Gluttony consumes opportunities rather than food. Naranjo observed Sp7 living as though supplies might run out, exploiting openings and negotiating benefits as survival. Anyone without a keen nose will eventually lose. He described a dentist chatting while a patient could not reply, then immediately offering to buy the patient's car. Conversation eventually becomes a deal. This model likewise reads Seven's head-to-gut displacement as pursuit of material benefits and sensory pleasure; Sp7's Se is firmly rooted in immediate reality.

Everyday patterns

  • Is talkative, funny and likable, becoming familiar quickly.
  • Cultivates reciprocal connections and knows who can help with what.
  • Enjoys food, comfort, good things and life.
  • Quickly notices others' needs and weaknesses and adapts accordingly.
  • Dislikes restrictions and keeps backup plans.

Commonly confused types

Deal-making and practical gain resemble Three, which values the resulting image while Sp7 values the benefit and enjoyable process. Alliances and vigilance resemble Six, but Six anticipates danger with doubt while Sp7 optimistically sees opportunity.

Blind spots and growth

The blind spot is calculation behind friendliness and anxiety that an uncaptured benefit will be lost. Growth involves moderation: remain with discomfort without searching for the next exit, stay when no benefit is available, and distinguish closeness from mutual usefulness. Encounters need not all become opportunities before what is already gained can truly be enjoyed.
